26 PDLs at Tuguegarao BJMP Excel in Hilot Wellness Massage Training

Aparri, Cagayan Twenty-six (26) female Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Female Dormitory in Tuguegarao City have successfully completed the Hilot (Wellness Massage) NC II Training and Competency Assessment, achieving a 100% passing rate—a testament to their dedication, resilience, and desire for positive change.

 

Held from April 28 to May 23, 2024, the training was part of the Regular Program of TESDA-Aparri Polytechnic Institute, in collaboration with BJMP Tuguegarao, and facilitated by esteemed trainer Apolonia U. Lubbui, Ph.D. The program aimed to provide livelihood opportunities and skills development to special clients, particularly solo parents and individuals with drug-related concerns.

 

The Competency Assessment was conducted on May 26 and 27, 2024, where all 26 participants were found competent in their acquired skills. The culmination of their hard work and transformation was joyfully celebrated during their Graduation Ceremony held on May 30, 2024.

This initiative highlights the shared commitment of TESDA and BJMP to restorative justice and inclusive development, giving PDLs not just skills, but renewed hope and a meaningful path forward.

 

As these women move toward reintegration, their “healing hands” now symbolize strength, opportunity, and the power of second chances.

This year’s ceremony honored the graduates from the following programs:

Anchored on the theme “Kasanayan mula sa TESDA, Tagumpay ay Kayang-Kaya”, the event underscored the transformative power of technical education in equipping individuals with the skills necessary for gainful employment and nation-building.

 

The institution was honored by the presence of esteemed guest speakers who shared valuable insights and words of encouragement. Mr. Ralph Renzol Ramos, a proud alumnus of TESDA-API and currently serving as Administrative Aide III at the Aparri District Hospital, delivered an inspiring message reflecting his personal journey and professional growth. Representing the Local Government Unit of Aparri, Dr. Maximo Capia also addressed the graduates, emphasizing the critical role of technical-vocational education in addressing local workforce needs and enhancing community development.

 

The graduation ceremony was a fitting tribute to the hard work, perseverance, and dedication exhibited by the graduates throughout their training. It also symbolized a new beginning as they embark on their respective professional paths, ready to apply their competencies in real-world settings.

Aparri Polytechnic Institute Culminates Women’s Month Celebration with Community Extension Activities in Barangay Patunungan, Sta. Ana, Cagayan

Aparri, Cagayan (03.28.2025) – The Aparri Polytechnic Institute (API) successfully concluded its Women’s Month Celebration with a series of impactful activities, including an Off-Campus Community Extension Program in Barangay Patunungan, Sta. Ana, Cagayan, and an In-Campus Forum that tackled various women’s concerns and other activities on March 28, 2025.

 

The off-campus extension program, conducted in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Sta. Ana and the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA), offered free skills training on Haircutting, Manicure and Pedicure, Small Engine Repair, and Photovoltaic (PV) Installation to local residents. In addition, API provided free haircut services for women and children in the community, ensuring that families in Barangay Patunungan benefited from the program beyond skill acquisition. The LGU of Sta. Ana played a vital role by granting API permission to conduct the activity and generously providing snacks for all participants, while CEZA supported the initiative by accompanying API officials and staff throughout the event.

 

The In-Campus Culmination Activity was a vibrant and engaging event that celebrated women’s empowerment through health awareness, success stories, and creative expression. The program featured Dr. Maria Rowena G. Marantan, Municipal Health Officer – Aparri East, as the Guest Speaker, who delivered an insightful talk on Cervical Cancer Prevention. Additionally, Joy Allistair A. Sambrano, RN, USRN, conducted a lecture on Self-Breast Examination, providing valuable knowledge on early detection and women’s health awareness.

 

Another highlight of the program was the testimonials of successful API graduates, featuring Ms. Joan U. Malenab and Ms. Aprille Tugari, who shared their inspiring journeys, demonstrating the impact of API’s education and training on their careers and personal growth.

 

Adding to the celebration, API set up a Pop-Up Gallery displaying various art entries, showcasing creative expressions that reflected themes of women’s empowerment, equality, and social change. The event also featured promotional and participatory games, fostering camaraderie and engagement among attendees. To promote health and wellness, an energetic Zumba session was conducted, encouraging physical activity and a fun-filled experience for participants.

Aparri, Cagayan – March 19, 2025 – The Aparri Polytechnic Institute (API) successfully conducted a Capability Program on Developing, Writing, and Maintaining a Quality Manual today, March 19, 2025, as part of its ongoing Staff Development Program. The training was facilitated by Amanda Elleni S. Lacambra, Quality Management System (QMS) Focal Person, and Estella Mari G. Viloria, QMS Team Member.

 

The program aimed to equip API staff with the necessary skills to develop, implement, and maintain a Quality Manual aligned with institutional goals and quality standards. Key topics discussed included: Understanding the Role of a Quality Manual – Highlighting its importance in ensuring consistency and efficiency within the institution; Steps in Developing and Writing a Quality Manual – Providing a systematic approach to documenting policies, processes, and procedures; and Maintaining and Updating the Manual – Emphasizing strategies for continuous improvement and compliance with quality standards.

 

During his opening remarks, Vocational School Administrator III, Francisco Gringo Tagabi, quoted Aristotle’s famous words: “Quality is not an act but a habit.” He emphasized that achieving excellence requires a consistent and continuous commitment from his administration to improve standards and processes. He highlighted that quality is not merely a one-time effort but a practice of consistently doing the right things, in the right way, and for the right purpose.

Participants actively engaged in interactive discussions, hands-on exercises, and workshop, enhancing their understanding of quality management processes. Ms. Lacambra stressed the importance of aligning the Quality Manual with API’s objectives, while Ms. Viloria provided valuable insights on best practices for maintaining documentation and ensuring quality compliance.

 

This initiative is part of API’s ongoing efforts to strengthen staff competencies and maintain excellence in service delivery.

Aparri Polytechnic Institute Launches Year-Long Zumba Sessions for Health and Wellness

Aparri, Cagayan – In a bid to promote health and wellness among its trainees and staff, Aparri Polytechnic Institute officially launched its regular Zumba sessions on January 17, 2025. The program will run until December 2025, providing an exciting and engaging way for participants to stay physically fit and foster a stress-free environment.

 

Through the rhythmic and energetic routines of Zumba, participants can enjoy a full-body workout that is both fun and effective.

“We want to create an environment where our trainees and staff can prioritize their health in an enjoyable way. Zumba is a fantastic way to stay active while also relieving stress,” said Nurse Marry Joyce F. Lorenzon, program organizer.

 

The sessions will be held regularly at Audio Visual Hall every Friday from 8:00 to 8:30 AM, with assigned leaders guiding participants through dynamic routines. Open to all trainees and staff, the program encourages an active lifestyle and a strong sense of community.
