Empowering individuals through skills training transforms lives and communities. This training not only imparts valuable expertise but also opens doors to new opportunities, helping participants build a better future for themselves and their families.

Aparri, Cagayan – On July 8, 2024, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Aparri Polytechnic Institute (A.P.I.) commenced a training program in Hilot (Wellness Massage) NC II in Claveria, Cagayan. Sponsored by the Local Government Unit of Claveria and led by Mayor L.A. Guillen-Yapo, this initiative aims to empower local constituents by providing valuable skills and potential livelihood opportunities. Ms. Emilia A. Aquino, Associate Professor V, serves as the trainer for this program.

     The training cohort consists of 25 participants, including Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), solo parents, former Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), and members of the 4Ps. Over the course of 15 days, the trainees will acquire expertise in Hilot (Wellness Massage) NC II, which will not only enhance their skillset but also offer them a new avenue for income generation to support their families.

This event brought together students, faculty, local officials, and former employees of API to honor the graduates’ hard work and dedication, setting a precedent for future successes in technical and vocational education in the region.

Aparri, Cagayan – On June 3, 2024 the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority – Aparri Polytechnic Institute (TESDA-API) celebrated its inaugural graduation ceremony, for the first batch of students completing the Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology and Diploma in Hospitality Services. The ceremony, held in Maura, Aparri, Cagayan, also included scholars from various qualifications such as Beauty Care (Nail Care) Services NC II, Hilot (Wellness Massage) NC II, Barangay Health Services NC II, and more.

     In his inspirational speech, Francisco Gringo C. Tagabi, the newly appointed Vocational School Administrator III, urged graduates to maintain gratitude and optimism while using their credentials to the fullest extent possible. Ms. Josephine N. Cabrera, Supervising TESD Specialist of TESDA-Cagayan Provincial Office, emphasized the importance of applying acquired skills in various industries to measure the success of TESDA programs. Class valedictorian Ms. Ericka L. Mabbun expressed gratitude and promised to utilize the skills, knowledge, and positive attitude gained from API in her future endeavors. The ceremony also saw participation from Ms. Tschaine R. Balisi, Chief of the Regional Operations Division of TESDA Region II, local officials, and former employees of API.

Eco Bag Sewing Training by TESDA-A.P.I. for Overseas Filipino Workers in Agusi, Camalaniugan, Cagayan

This initiative aims to equip OFWs with practical skills in eco bag sewing, promoting sustainable practices and providing them with potential income-generating opportunities. The training not only focuses on sewing techniques but also emphasizes the importance of environmental responsibility through the creation of reusable eco bags.

Aparri, Cagayan – The Overseas Filipino Workers’ Association (OFW) in Agusi, Camalaniugan, Cagayan, composed of former OFWs and family members of current OFWs, in collaboration with the Municipal Government of Camalaniugan, requested a training in eco bag sewing from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Aparri Polytechnic Institute (TESDA-A.P.I.).

     The training was conducted on June 25 to 26, 2024 at Agusi Barangay Office. It equipped the 20 trainees from the said association and prepared them to venture into the business of selling eco bags in the public market, helping them implement the “no plastic policy” of the government and taking part in providing an eco-friendly environment.

     Ms. Fen Claire C. Collado, Municipal Social Welfare Assistant and OFW Focal, was very appreciative of the prompt and positive action accorded to their request by the new administrator of A.P.I., Fr. Francisco Gringo C. Tagabi. The President of the OFW Association in Agusi was likewise grateful for the skills acquired from A.P.I.

From simple shapes to intricate designs, each sculpture was a testament to the talent and creativity of the participants.

Aparri, Cagayan – The 441st Aggao Nac Cagayan celebrations were an event filled with joy, culture, and creativity. One of the highlights of the festivities was the Sand Sculpting Contest held at Maura Beach, where TESDA-Aparri Polytechnic Institute showcased their expertise and creative talents. This event was a great opportunity for the selected employees of the institute to demonstrate their skills in sand sculpting and to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the region. 

The trainers/staff of TESDA-Aparri demonstrated their mastery of this art form as they sculpted various designs and shapes on the sandy shores of Maura Beach. From simple shapes to intricate designs, each sculpture was a testament to the talent and creativity of the participants.

Aparri, Cagayan – Personnel from the Aparri Police Station under the Cagayan Police Provincial Office, led by PMAJ Ignacio Dijun N Dinulong Jr., initiated a TESDA Basic Electrical Wiring Training, which was attended by forty (40) participants, focused on practical skills in electrical wiring. The training included hands-on sessions for wiring 1-gang and 2-gang switches, as well as the connection of CO and SPO outlets.

Aparri, Cagayan – With the oath-taking ceremony of newly appointed officials, employees, and staff done during the Flag Ceremony on May 6, 2024, via Zoom with the TESDA Central Office, Fr. Francisco Gringo C. Tagabi, RCJ, was appointed as the new Vocational School Administrator III (VSA III) of the Aparri Polytechnic Institute (A.P.I.).

      As a result, A.P.I. happily greeted its new administrator with a short ceremony and a delicious lunch shared by all of the staff. In order to welcome the new VSA III, former Acting Administrator Eduardo L. Escobar, Ph.D., instructed all the employees taking their summer vacation to report, as well as trainers completing their community training. Dr. Escobar also urged everyone to give the new administrator their unwavering support.
      “Fr. Tagabi, a member of the Congregation of the Rogationists of the Heart of Jesus”, thanked the staff for their cordial welcome and gave everyone his word that he would collaborate with them all to realize the institution’s goal of becoming a Polytechnic College in the future quoting the words from Albert Camus “Don’t walk in front of me… I may not follow Don’t walk behind me… I may not lead Walk beside me… just be my friend”

Aparri, Cagayan – The Diploma in Hospitality Services Batch 2 (DHS-B2) under the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (UAQTEA) scholarship program of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) aced the 2024 Agri-Fishery Day, particularly the Cooking Contest of the Municipal Government of Aparri in connection with its 344th Town Fiesta conducted at the Aparri Public Park on May 3, 2024.

      TESDA-Aparri Polytechnic Institute joined the Buchi and Miki cooking categories, which are among the delicacies of the town. Elmo Raciles, championed the Buchi Making, and Stephen Tejada bagged 1st Place in the Miki Niladdit Category; both are students of DHS-B2 in A.P.I.
      Robert C. Revilla, Ph.D., Vocational Instruction Supervisor Designate/Officer-In-Charge, said this shows the prowess of the TESDAns in cooking, and the activity will form part of the great exposure and experiences of A.P.I.’s trainees.

TESDA-A.P.I. inks Memorandum of Agreement with Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Lal-lo Municipal Jail

By working together, we can improve the standard of Vocational Education and make sure that trainees are ready to take on the challenges of the workforce.

Aparri, Cagayan – TESDA-A.P.I. inks MOA with BJMP Widening of networks and linkages with various stakeholders led to the inking of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) entered into by the Aparri Polytechnic Institute (A.P.I.) and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology – Lal-lo Municipal Jail (BJMP-LMJ) on April 22, 2024, at the Aparri Polytechnic Institute’s Executive Conference Room, Aparri, Cagayan.

      During the signing ceremony, SJO4 Mary Noela D. Balao, the Acting Municipal Jail Warden, expressed optimism about the collaboration, highlighting that it will provide PDLs with valuable skills for their post-incarceration livelihood opportunities. She conveyed gratitude for the initiative, emphasizing its potential positive impact on the PDLs’ future.

      A.P.I.’s Acting Administrator, Eduardo L. Escobar, Ph.D., reiterated the institution’s commitment to supporting PDLs by equipping them with skills and hope for a better future. He aligned this commitment with the guiding principle of TESDA’s Secretary Suharto T. Mangudadatu, Ph.D., which focuses on consistent and reliable care and support for individuals seeking vocational and technical education.

      This MOA marks a significant step towards rehabilitating and reintegrating PDLs into society through education and skill-building, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts between educational institutions and correctional facilities.
