TESDA ISABELA LAUNCHED SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR INDIGENOUS PEOPLE

TESDA ISABELA LAUNCHED SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR INDIGENOUS PEOPLE

Living with its mantra ” TESDA Abot Lahat”- to reach the unreached, to serve the underserved and to bring to the mainstream those in the margins of society, and in reference to one of TESDA DOS’ SAGIP ( Skills Acquisition Grant to Indigenous Peoples) and Adopt an IP Community Program, TESDA Isabela in collaboration with the City Government of Ilagan thru the IP Sectoral Office, had launched Skills training programs to the different IP groups at Barangay Capellan, Ilagan, Isabela last February 26, 2020.

This was an offshoot of the consultations made with the different IPs as to their felt needs per group in the barangay held last January 2020.

Barangay Capellan has 5 IP groups namely: Ibanags, the Gaddangs, the Ifugaws, the Igorots and the Agtas. Skills training on Meat Processing, Organic Agriculture Production and Automotive Servicing were introduced as a start of numerous training to be implemented to the barangay as part of our Adopt an IP program to empower IPs, improve their lives, to create sustainable activities for employment and entrepreneurship and also to preserve their culture.

As initial support to the IPs, TESDA Isabela Provincial Office had provided them a complete set of Food and Meat processing utensils and other materials needed in the training.
