This initiative aims to equip OFWs with practical skills in eco bag sewing, promoting sustainable practices and providing them with potential income-generating opportunities. The training not only focuses on sewing techniques but also emphasizes the importance of environmental responsibility through the creation of reusable eco bags.
Aparri, Cagayan – The Overseas Filipino Workers’ Association (OFW) in Agusi, Camalaniugan, Cagayan, composed of former OFWs and family members of current OFWs, in collaboration with the Municipal Government of Camalaniugan, requested a training in eco bag sewing from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Aparri Polytechnic Institute (TESDA-A.P.I.).
The training was conducted on June 25 to 26, 2024 at Agusi Barangay Office. It equipped the 20 trainees from the said association and prepared them to venture into the business of selling eco bags in the public market, helping them implement the “no plastic policy” of the government and taking part in providing an eco-friendly environment.
Ms. Fen Claire C. Collado, Municipal Social Welfare Assistant and OFW Focal, was very appreciative of the prompt and positive action accorded to their request by the new administrator of A.P.I., Fr. Francisco Gringo C. Tagabi. The President of the OFW Association in Agusi was likewise grateful for the skills acquired from A.P.I.
