The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) through the Aparri Polytechnic Institute (API) takes a creative leap by upskilling trainers and stakeholders in the art of Fruit and Vegetable Carving. This initiative was conducted May 22, 2023, at the Altasco Bistro, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. Recognizing the growing demand for visually appealing dishes, the specialized training program aimed to equip trainers with the expertise needed to teach fruit and vegetable carving techniques effectively for the purpose of including the said skill in the curricula of Cookery NC II and Food and Beverage Services NC II qualifications.
Speaking about the program, Regional Director Vincent Aljon A. Cifra, emphasized the importance of embracing creativity and innovation in the food and tourism industry. He stated that by upskilling trainers and stakeholders in fruit and vegetable carving, we are fostering innovativeness and creativity in food preparation and presentation: an indicator of a vibrant, responsive, and excellent TVET ecosystem. Furthermore, he added that the initiative reflects TESDA’s commitment to empowering individuals and ensuring the sustainability and growth of the food and tourism industry.
The training program is conducted by API through its TTI Advisory Council (TAC) in coordination with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Cagayan Chapter.
